Indiana Corn Marketing Council 2025 Voting Information

The Indiana Corn Marketing Council (ICMC), the state’s corn checkoff program, is hosting elections for Board of Director positions in Districts 1, 4, and 7 and two, statewide, at-large seats.

Absentee voting is open July 14 through Aug. 8. Absentee ballots can be downloaded from the links below or by calling the ICMC office at 317-644-2863.

Farmers may vote in person at Purdue Cooperative Extension Service county offices from Aug. 11-15. All eligible Hoosier corn producers, defined as any person engaged in the business of producing and marketing corn in Indiana under the producer’s own name or the name of an entity in which the producer has ownership, may vote in the election.

District 1

District 1 includes the counties of Benton, Jasper, LaPorte, Lake, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, Starke and White. The absentee ballot is available here. (NOTE: You must reside in one of the counties listed above to fill out the District 1 ballot).

Brent Cox

Brent Cox seeks his first term on the ICMC board. He grows corn and soybeans in Benton and Fowler counties. Cox has been farming since 2007 and currently owns and operates Maple Island Farms LLC. In addition to farming, Cox works full-time at Wilson Trailer Sales and serves as a Benton County Council. He graduated from Purdue University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness management. He farms with his wife Natasha and three children. His goal with the ICMC board is to continue to expand domestic and global markets, and advocate for farmers across the state.

Heather Nally

Heather Nally is seeking her first term on the ICMC board. A resident of Fowler, Ind., she and her husband, Patrick, grow corn, soybeans, wheat, and elderberries. Nally also works at the Benton County Soil & Water Conservation District. Over the past decade, she has led efforts to transition their farm with a focus on soil health. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1998 from Purdue University College of Agriculture. If elected as a director, Nally wants to build awareness on the benefits of the corn checkoff and emphasize the areas of sustainability and value creation.

Andrew Winger

Andrew Winger of Oxford, Ind. seeks his first term on the ICMC board. Along with his wife, Amy, they grow corn, soybeans, waxy corn, and seed beans. Winger has been farming since 2002; he also owns and operates Winger Farms Trucking LLC. He graduated from Blackhawk College with an associate’s degree in agriculture business management. Winger has completed the Indiana Agriculture Leadership Program and is also a member of the Benton County Fair Board. If elected, Winger said his goals are to understand how checkoff dollars are strategically invested to develop and maintain markets to ensure long-term value for farmers. 

District 4

District 4 includes Warren, Tippecanoe, Montgomery, Putnam, Owen, Clay, Vigo, Parke, Vermillion, and Fountain counties. The absentee ballot is available here. (NOTE: You must reside in one of the counties listed above to fill out the District 4 ballot).

Kevin Cox

Kevin Cox seeks his first term on the ICMC board. A resident of Parke County, he has been farming corn and soybeans for 42 years across Parke, Putnam, Clay, and Vigo counties. He farms with his son and wife, Brenda. He emphasizes conservation on his farm through installing tile, grass waterways, and practicing minimal and no-till methods. Outside of the farm he is involved in Farm Bureau, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, Farm Credit Mid America, Purdue Extension, and is an Indiana Soybean Alliance ex-officio board director. If elected, Cox hopes to expand markets and grow the utilization of corn to benefit the agricultural economy. 

District 7

District 7 includes the counties of Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Greene, Knox, Martin, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Sullivan, Vanderburgh and Warrick. The absentee ballot is available here. (NOTE: You must reside in one of the counties listed above to fill out the District 7 ballot).

Alex Hohl

Alex Hohl of Huntingburg, Ind., is seeking his first term on the ICMC board. A 6th-generation farmer in Dubois County, he alongside his wife, Erica, operate a corn operation to support their 50-head cattle herd. Before he went back to the farm full time, he worked as a sales manager for Beck’s Hybrids. He holds an M.B.A from the University of Southern Indiana. Hohl also serves as a county councilman, a past supervisor for the Soil and Water Conservation District, and is a member of the American Society of Agronomy. If elected he hopes to promote the Indiana corn market domestically and internationally.

Hans Schmitz

Hans Schmitz of Wadesville, Ind., is seeking his first term on the ICMC board. He farms at Dutchman Farms Inc., a sixth-generation family operation raising corn, soybeans, wheat, and beef cattle, alongside his wife, Cindy. Schmitz began farming in 2021 and works off the farm as adjunct faculty at USI and Vincennes University. He is also an IANA specialist. He holds a master’s degree in agricultural meteorology from Purdue University. He is also involved with Posey County Farm Bureau, Robinson Township Conservation Club, Relay for Life, and the Posey County Community Foundation. He seeks to be a strong leader to support Indiana corn farmers. 

At-Large

Two statewide At-Large seats will be elected by farmers from all 92 Indiana counties. The absentee ballot is available here. (NOTE: If you do not reside in any of the counties listed above from Districts 1, 4, or 7, you may download and use this ballot).

Mat Berger

Mat Berger of Fountain City, Ind., is seeking his first term on the ICMC board. He farms corn, soybeans, and manages a cow-calf operation in Wayne and Randolph counties. Farming since 2014, he works as the Vice President at Ag Loan Officer Merchants Bank of Indiana. He holds a B.S. from Purdue University in Ag Systems Management. Berger is a member of the Wayne County Soil and Water Board, Farm Bureau, the Indiana Ag Leadership Program, Vets in Farming, and the Farmer Veteran Coalition. If elected, Berger would like to emphasize transparency, and the value added through ICMC.

Jay Berry

Jay Berry of Marion, Ind., is seeking his first term on the ICMC board. He has farmed in Grant County since 1998. He is a farmer on his 6th  generation family farm, growing corn and soybeans. Outside of the farm he holds a secondary job with Ignite Racing Fuel Drone Services. He has an associated agribusiness degree from Vincennes University. If elected, Berry hopes to bring knowledge of the ethanol industry to the board as well as international industry experience.

Kurt Laidig

Kurt Laidig is seeking his first term on the ICMC board. He is a full-time farmer in St. Joseph County; he has been farming since 1976. He farms corn and soybeans and runs a wean-to-finish hog operation alongside his wife, Rhonda, son, and daughter-in-law. He earned a degree in Agriculture Economics from Purdue University. He is an active member of his local Township Advisory Board and his church. If elected as a director, Laidig hopes to expand corn markets in Indiana, particularly in support for new and existing livestock farmers.

Adam Sheller
Adam Sheller

Adam Sheller is seeking his second term on the ICMC board. Sheller has been farming in Hamilton and Tipton counties since 2015, growing corn, soybeans, and hay with his wife, Amy. He also raises dairy goats on the farm. He graduated from Purdue University in 2004 with a degree in Agriculture Education. In addition to farming, Sheller holds an off-farm job as an insurance agent. He has served on the Sustainability and Value Creation Committee Chair through his role on the ICMC board. If re-elected, he hopes to continue working with farmers to make farming sustainable for future generations.  

The ICMC board manages state corn checkoff investments and determines promotional, educational and research activities that can strengthen Indiana’s corn industry. The elected directors will serve three-year terms beginning Oct. 1. ICMC directors can serve three consecutive full terms or a total of nine consecutive years.
